Potty Training Fail

You know how they say no one goes to college in diapers?

I'm not convinced.

Last week was Spring Break and we had no gymnastics or co-op and it sounded like a great time to focus on potty training Fiona.  She's 3 1/4. It's time, right?

We were armed with pretty panties, charts, m&ms, and lots of encouragement.

We started Wednesday morning and by Easter Sunday I had given up.  During that time we had one successful potty "deposit".  (Which happened to be the two hours I was not here and my mom was watching them.)  We did have 12,678,493 accidents.

Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration.  But not by much.

I have never washed so many pairs of little girl panties.

I guess we'll try again in a few months.

Power Plant Field Trip

Our homeschool group went to the nuclear power plant in Seneca, SC for a cool hands on presentation and tour about power and electricity.  It was fascinating!

This is only our homeschool group and I think less then half came to the trip!

After we went to a picnic area on the property near the lake and helicopter pad to eat our lunch.  What a beautiful spot!

It was a bit frustrating when on the way home when I asked the kids what was the most interesting thing they learned and they said, "We didn't learn anything."  Umm, seriously?  I just hope it will either A. soak in or B. just refreshed the information they learned in their science book last week when we were studying electricity.

When The Whole Family is Sick ....

... the house falls apart.

It's been a really, really hard week.

Thursday afternoon I realized Fiona was running a slight fever.  It was all down hill from there.  In short succession Claire went down, then Declan, then Nicholas (thankfully on the weekend).  I was feeling lousy, but that could have been from not sleeping and running around taking care of whiny babies and cleaning up sickness.  Chandler held out the longest, but went down on Sunday.

I spent most of the week holding the babies because every time I tried to walk 10 inches away from Fiona she started sobbing, "No Mama!  I want you Mama!".  It got very old, and my back was killing me, but that's what they needed.

Today is the first day that I can see the end is in sight.  Fiona is still whiny, Chandler is being lazy and Declan is fussy, but I can see the change.  Someday soon I will get to leave the house!  This morning I looked up from my fog of nursing all these sick people to realize that my house is a disaster!  I mean filthy.  The kitchen is a wreck, the bathroom is gross and the living room is a mess.  It's going to take me a week to recover from all this!

We Have Tadpoles!

Our frog eggs have turned into tadpoles!  At first they just laid around the tank for the first few days/week and we worried that they were dead, but then they became active.  Now they are eating everything and growing big!  We give them goldfish food and boiled romaine lettuce to eat, but they are very hands off.  We have them at a low table in the dining room and Fiona and Declan love watching them!

Just Hatched

In the new tank

With rocks for them to hide and to climb on when they start growing little legs.

This has been a lot of fun so far!
