It was so beautiful today Daddy and I decided to take the kids for a hike. We've wanted to go hiking, but were waiting for Little Man to walk a little better so we didn't have to worry about toting him the whole time. The Appalachian Trail runs right past our town, so we drove a bit up the mountain to find there still was snow and ice up there! It's very strange to be walking in snow in 60 degree weather! It made it a little difficult because The Girl is a bit clumsy and was not very sure footed. The trail we originally wanted to go on (to the 2nd largest poplar tree in the U.S. - 8' in diameter!) was way too snowy, so we headed up the AT a little bit. We didn't go too far because Little Man has short legs! It took us about a hour to go a mile - but the kids had a ball. We can't wait until it starts warming up so we can go regularly.

The Girl carefully heading down from the rock that we had our little picnic on. Fun times with our little family!
Trying to frugally raise 4 children, 2 cats, 6 rabbits, and a flock of chickens. No labels, just an attempt at common sense parenting.

Life just keeps throwing it at us ...
So, like I mentioned in my last post, my husband's work is slow this time of year and he's been temporarily laid off. They still have a little work, but he's pretty much only working a day or two a week. I got the rent together but quick checked our bank balance before mailing the check and got a surprise. Apparently someone got a hold of his credit card number and there was a $200 purchase out of our bank account. Grrrr! We had to dispute it with our bank and we're waiting to hear, but I had to call our landlady and send her a partial rent payment - ouch. This is the worst time for something like this to happen!

Yes, I'm still alive!
It's been a while, it's been kind of crazy here. We had lots of snow, which meant Unlabeled Daddy was out of work and we were all housebound. Then he was temporarily laid off for a week. Ugh. In the middle of all this Little Man got sick. This was is first real illness and he's not a "nice" sick person. Oy. Very whiny, clingy and demanding and then we had to deal with the post-sickness brattyness. You know "Why can't you treat me like this all the time?". Daddy went back to work yesterday and I'm still trying to get everyone back into the routine. Wish me luck!
Just had to share some pictures of snowy fun!
